Erica Fischbach
Academy Director Erica Fischbach enjoyed a 20-year professional ballet career with American Ballet Theatre and Pacific Northwest Ballet before embarking on her current teaching career. Ms. Fischbach was appointed Colorado Ballet Academy Principal in 2016 and was named Academy Director in 2017. She has been on the faculty for the country's leading professional summer intensives and year round schools including American Ballet Theatre, Colorado Ballet, Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, University of North Carolina School of the Arts, and the Cecchetti Council of America. Ms. Fischbach is certified in the American Ballet Theatre Curriculum and the Gyrotonic Method.
Ms. Fischbach studied on scholarship at Milwaukee Ballet and University of North Carolina School of the Arts before joining Pacific Northwest Ballet in 1986. As a soloist, Ms. Fischbach danced principal and soloist roles in numerous Balanchine ballets as well as new works by renowned choreographers Lar Lubovitch, Lynn Taylor Corbett, Paul Taylor and Jiri Kylian. In 1996 Ms. Fischbach joined American Ballet Theatre, where she enjoyed dancing featured roles in ABT’s full repertoire before retiring in November of 2004.
During her tenure at Colorado Ballet Academy, Ms. Fischbach has helped to increase growth and quality of training by implementing CBA’s cutting edge curriculum and monthly performance opportunities.
